The Gala is the American Museum of Natural History’s benefit, a dinner in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life on Central Park West. Cocktails come first, then dinner, an auction and a performance.

The Museum
The Museum was founded in 1869, by a special act of the New York State Legislature. It has more than forty permanent halls, and collections of more than thirty million specimens and objects.
The Gala’s proceeds support what the Museum calls its “mission-driven work in science, education, and exhibition.”
The Tables
In 2026 a Premium table of twelve was $250,000, on the floor, with scientists at the table, a private planetarium “flight” and passes for the Thanksgiving Parade; two were offered. A Patron table of ten was $50,000, on the floor, and a Friend table of ten $25,000, in the balcony.
Single tickets ran from $1,000 for the Junior Council, at most four to a membership, through $2,500 in the balcony to $5,000 on the floor. The Leadership and Benefactor tables and tickets were sold out.
What to Know
The 2027 date is to follow. The 2026 Gala is on Thursday 3 December, from 7 to 10 in the evening: cocktails at 7, then dinner, an auction and a performance by Jack White.
Tables and tickets are booked online, by email or by telephone. All sales are final, and tickets are not mailed in advance.
The Museum publishes no dress code. The Court wears black tie.

The Court
The Gala is not the Court’s own. Places at a table, on the floor or in the balcony, are sought on a member’s behalf, and the Court arranges the whole of it: getting there, where to stay, and the evening around it.
