TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
Late January · Vanderbilt Hall, New York · Eight Days · Since 1930
2027: 21 to 28 January
The Tournament of Champions is a squash championship for men and women on the PSA World Tour, played on a glass court in Vanderbilt Hall, at Grand Central Terminal in New York.
In 2027 it runs from the twenty-first to the twenty-eighth of January.
Since 1930
The organisers date it from 1930, when it began as the US Professional Championships. It took the name Tournament of Champions in 1993, and was first played in Vanderbilt Hall in 1995.
It has not been held without a break.
The Glass Court
The court is glass, so that it can stand in a public hall with stands built up around it. In Vanderbilt Hall it sits beneath the chandeliers of the terminal.
What to Know
Men and women play the same week, on the same court.
The Court wears a lounge suit.
It is a different occasion from the Court’s own Squash Tournament, which is played among members in September.
The Court
The Tournament of Champions is not the Court’s own. Seats are sought on a member’s behalf, and the Court arranges the whole of it: getting there, where to stay, and the table afterward.
How one becomes a member is set out under Admission.
